Clinic History

Sumner Springs Veterinary Clinic has a rich history dating back to its founding by Dr. Paul Enoch in August 1961. Dr. Enoch’s dedication to providing exceptional veterinary care established the clinic as a cornerstone of the Gallatin community. In October 2023, Dr. Bates assumed ownership of the clinic, continuing the legacy of excellence and compassionate care established by Dr. Enoch.

With a commitment to serving both pets and their owners with the highest standards of professionalism and expertise, Dr. Bates and the dedicated team at Sumner Springs Veterinary Clinic strive to uphold the clinic’s esteemed reputation while embracing modern advancements in veterinary medicine.

Paul Enoch

DVM

Dr. Enoch graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry in 1957. He was a member of the UT livestock judging team and a Merit Trophy winner in 1957. He graduated from Auburn University receiving a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1961. He was a Borden Award winner for having top grades in his class.

He opened his practice at 1112 Hartsville Pike in Gallatin, TN in August 1961. He served as President of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) in 1984. He received the Distinguished Service Award in 1993. He became a life member of the TVMA in 2001 and is also a life member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He served on the Gallatin City Council for 4 years and he served on the Sumner County Board of Health for over 10 years.

He is a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, TN.
