Originally hailing from Nashville, Dr. Bates’s journey into veterinary medicine was sparked by her deep-rooted love for animals. After graduating from Middle TN State University, she pursued her dream at the University of TN College of Veterinary Medicine, earning her degree in 2014. Returning to middle Tennessee with her husband, Josh, Dr. Bates spent over 9 years working alongside Dr. Michael Towns in Hartsville before seizing the opportunity to purchase Dr. Enoch’s practice.
Dr. Bates’s devotion to the veterinary industry stems from her desire to improve the lives of pets and their owners. From her early days volunteering at local humane associations to her current role as a seasoned veterinarian, she remains dedicated to finding innovative ways to promote animal health and well-being. For Dr. Bates, the most rewarding aspect of her profession is witnessing animals recover from illness and injury, knowing she played a part in their healing journey.
Specializing in both small and large animal medicine, Dr. Bates finds particular joy in surgical procedures, ranging from routine spays and neuters to intricate mass removals and fracture repairs. She also relishes the opportunity to engage in large animal medicine, assisting farmers with cattle vaccinations and tending to sick sheep, goats, and horses. Dr. Bates is an active member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association (AVMA) and the TN VMA, staying connected with her peers and continuing to expand her knowledge in the field.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Bates finds solace and joy in her family life. Married to Josh since 2010, they share two sons, Jeremiah and Oliver, who are actively involved in music and sports. Dr. Bates herself enjoys singing at local events and church gatherings, while Jeremiah showcases his talent on the fiddle in contests across the United States. With a household bustling with activity and a menagerie of animals including horses, dogs, cats, and cows, Dr. Bates’s life is a testament to her unwavering commitment to both her family and the welfare of animals.
